Serene Ascent (2024)

Inspired by The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, this photoshoot reinterprets the painting through suggestion rather than literal reference. Instead of including a swing, the concept focuses on refined details that hint at movement and romance.

Flowing fabric draped across the subject’s arms and legs, along with a single missing shoe, reference the original work’s sense of motion and playfulness. The styling emphasises fluidity and ease, allowing the subject’s posture and expression to carry the image.

A neutral background keeps attention on the figure, creating a clean contrast that reinforces her presence. Rather than recreating the painting’s narrative, the shoot shifts focus to the relationship between the viewer and the subject, capturing the indulgent and romantic tone of the original in a restrained, modern way.
