Flowing Forms (2021)
Flowing Forms is a photographic series that explores movement and form through long exposure. Inspired by a student dancer, the project focuses on translating motion into visual rhythm.
The series is made up of three images, each functioning as a moment within a timeline of movement. Long exposure captures the dancer’s motion as soft trails of light, turning each gesture into a continuous flow rather than a fixed pose. Flowing fabrics move with the body, adding texture and extending the sense of motion within the frame.
A dark background creates contrast, allowing the light trails, colour, and form to stand out clearly. The controlled use of colour enhances the mood and energy of the images, emphasising expression rather than detail.
Flowing Forms presents dance as both movement and atmosphere, using light and time to reflect the dancer’s presence and control in a single frame.
